Kidney stone treatment throught mini PNC method

Dhangadhi, May 22: A hospital run in the private sector here has started treating patients with kidney stones using what is called the ‘Mini PCNN’ technique. Under this technique the patients need not have to undergo operation for removing the kidney stones, according to doctors at the hospital. The Nawa Jeevan Hospital, Dhangadhi started this treatment for removing kidney stone for the first time in the far-west region. The Mini PCNN technique involves removing the kidney stone by making a delicate 5 mm incision in the kidney of the patient without having to conduct a major surgery on the patient, said urologist surgeon Dr Sanjaya Khadgi. A team led by Dr Khadgi successfully performed the PCNN surgery on five patients on Saturday. Treatment using this technique costs between Rs 20 thousand to Rs 70 thousand, depending on the case, the hospital stated. It is believed that with the availability of this service in Dhangadhi the patients from the region will no longer have to go to expensive hospitals in India for removing kidney stones.
